One of the best ways to practice golf during the long winter months is to use a golf simulator. These are not the same type of programs that you used to play on the old Nintendo systems. The new golf simulators are much more advanced and have much better graphics available for them. In fact, you can even use a real golf club to play the game and give the game a real feel.
It is also much more fun to play a realistic course. With the add-ons and ability to play the more common games such as Tiger Woods Golf makes these golf simulators even more exciting.
There are multiple options that are extremely reasonably priced as well. The previous options if someone wanted a golf simulator was to put out thousands of dollars for a full simulator that was installed professionally. These were generally put in large expensive homes, and out of range for most golf fanatics.
The two best options are the Golf LaunchPad Tour (includes Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008 game)
and OptiShot Infared Golf Simulator.
Golf Launchpad Tour is considered one of the low end golf simulators, however, it is still fun. As long as you have a high enough ceiling, you can enjoy this one in the comfort of your own home. The one downside is that the distance is not as accurate as it should be, but it is still a fun way to play Tiger Woods Golf. You can also choose your method of play from PS3 to computer. Multiple options give it more flexibility. The ball is fixed which means it is a little safer to hit in the home.
The Optishot is a little more expensive and works on a little different method. Although you can still use a game like Tiger Woods, it also comes with its own program with courses. The ball is not fixed, in fact, you don’t even have to use a ball as the Optishot uses your golf club to figure out how far you hit and which way it goes. The Optishot claims to be more accurate than others in its price range. The one downside is that it is currently only available to be used on a PC
Whatever you choose, a golf simulator is a lot of fun and will allow you to continue to improve through rain, sleet, snow, or middle of the night. If you love golf, you can now play anytime.
